Skrillex (Sonny Moore)
I'd like to start off by saying, Skrillex is not my favorite EDM
(Electronic Dance Music) artist. However, the amount of respect I have for
Sonny Moore, and the way that he has shaped electronic dance music over the
last few years is astonishing.
Sonny started his music career with the
band From First To Last (in 2004).
Since then, he dropped his primary rock influence with From First To Last, and adopted a talent for electronic music
creation under the alias Skrillex (in
2007). In 2010 he released two EPs (Extended Play - a release with more than 1
single and not enough tracks to be considered an album) My Name is Skrillex EP (Released as a free download in early 2010)
& Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP (Released
on Mou5eTrap Recordings in October 2010). Since that point, Skrillex has been awarded 3 Grammys (nominated for 5), consistently
produces top-chart tracks in Dubstep, Drum & Bass, and Electro-House (All
sub-genres of EDM), and currently has a video on Youtube (of his Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites) that
has almost 100,000,000 views (#87 on the Youtube top 100) -
